DELAYED +2yr (May 2026): S&P Global (May-2025) white paper notes that for the EuroAfrica interconnector there has been “no official news since 2021-22” after an early-2020s target. With first stage now reported (pv magazine, Dec-2024) as pushed to 2029, ‘early 2029’ COD for the full EG–CY–GR system looks inconsistent/overly optimistic. Shifting full commercial operation to end-2030 to reflect at least ~12 months for completing/commissioning the Cyprus–Crete section after initial stage delivery amid lack of recent official progress updates. --- The full EuroAfrica Interconnector system, including the Cyprus-Greece (Crete) section completing the 2,000 MW Egypt-Cyprus-Greece link, is planned to enter commercial operation in early 2029, following the Egypt-Cyprus section becoming operational in December 2028.
