Eastern Green Link 4's main construction phase is expected to commence in 2028, subject to planning consent. The latest joint ScottishPower / National Grid Electricity Transmission statement (30 March 2026) reads: "Subject to planning consent, Eastern Green Link 4 is expected to enter main construction in 2028 and is scheduled to be complete in 2033." Iberdrola's 30 March 2026 release corroborates: "The main construction phase will begin in 2028, with commissioning scheduled for 2033." This brings the construction-start window forward from the 2029 timeline stated at the July 2025 JV formation. The 2028 main-construction milestone covers the broader onshore civils and converter station programme; specific offshore campaigns (cable laying, offshore construction) remain provisionally scheduled within the 2029 window per the preferred-bidder announcements, pending refreshed JV programme statements once consents are secured in 2026-2027.
