Turnkey 320 kV HVDC export power cable system (offshore and onshore) for East Anglia THREE, forming the East Anglia THREE OFTO export connection between the offshore converter platform, Bawdsey landfall and Bramford converter station.
NKT was awarded a turnkey contract by ScottishPower Renewables for the complete 320 kV HVDC export power cable system for the East Anglia THREE offshore wind farm, which will form the East Anglia THREE OFTO offshore transmission asset. The scope covers design, manufacturing and installation of the full export cable system linking the offshore converter platform to landfall at Bawdsey and on to the HVDC converter station at Bramford, using ducts installed for East Anglia ONE. Based on the project configuration, NKT is expected to supply roughly 294 km of subsea export cable (two parallel 320 kV HVDC cables over a route of about 147 km) and 74 km of onshore HVDC cable (two cables over 37 km) together with associated accessories and installation works. The contract, valued at over EUR 250 million, is scheduled for delivery around 2025 in support of first power and subsequent transfer of the transmission assets under the OFTO regime.
