In summer 2021, the EA1 project discovered technical issues affecting its onshore transmission cables, and remedial works were identified as necessary to resolve these cable problems so that the East Anglia One transmission assets could be transferred to the preferred bidder OFTO. The remedial cable works were expected to involve multiple third parties, including local authorities, landowners and contractors, and to require physical intervention on the onshore cables.
