KEMA-CESI was contracted by TenneT to provide HVDC engineering support for 2 GW bipolar HVDC converter-station EPCI contractors on TenneT’s new offshore grid connections in the Netherlands, which include the Doordewind 2 connection. The scope covered HVDC system studies (including harmonic studies), VSC HVDC control and protection work, dynamic performance and factory performance testing with RTDS including on-site support (Lot 1). KEMA-CESI also acted as lead consultant for primary plant engineering (HVDC/AC AIS/GIS) and HVDC system installation and commissioning support onshore and/or offshore (Lot 2).
