From Billdal to Donsö, two parallel 8.5 km long 24 kV subsea cables from Nexans (AXCLTV) were laid, totalling about 17 km of cable.
Nexans manufactured and supplied the 24 kV AXCLTV subsea power cables used for the new Billdal–Donsö connection supplying Gothenburg’s southern archipelago. The case study describes a heavy steel-reinforced 90 mm diameter 24 kV cable from Nexans, delivered on 1,000 m drums and laid as two parallel 8.5 km circuits between Billdal and Donsö, giving a total of about 17 km of subsea cable. The reinforced design is intended to secure a long service life under demanding seabed conditions and to replace an older, unreliable link that required frequent repairs. Nexans’ scope covered the manufacture and supply of the submarine cables, which were then installed by Kraftringen Service and its marine subcontractor Dyk och Sjöentreprenad as part of Ellevio’s wider reinforcement of the local electricity network.
