DolWin4 ±320 kV HVDC offshore grid connection cable system (two parallel cables, approx. 60 km subsea and 155 km onshore route)
Prysmian Group was awarded by Amprion Offshore GmbH an EPC contract covering the design, manufacture, installation and commissioning of the HVDC cable systems for the DolWin4 and BorWin4 offshore grid connections in the German North Sea. For DolWin4, Prysmian is supplying approximately 430 km of ±320 kV single-core copper XLPE-insulated HVDC cables, comprising around 120 km of submarine export cable between the DolWin4 offshore converter platform and landfall near Hilgenriedersiel and about 310 km of underground cable running inland to the onshore converter and grid connection at Lingen (Hanekenfähr). The contract forms part of a wider package of more than €800 million for both DolWin4 and BorWin4 combined, with delivery and commissioning scheduled by 2028, supporting the connection of the North Sea Cluster NC 3 and NC 4 offshore wind farms to the German transmission grid.
