In September 2014, the Greek Minister of Environment, Energy and Climate Change approved national public financial support for the Cyclades interconnection project, the only scheduled island interconnection at the time; this approval covered the multi‑stage scheme that extends the mainland grid to the Cyclades, including Stage 2/Phase B with the Paros–Naxos 150 kV submarine cable.
