In November 2006, a Greek ministerial decision designated the Cyclades Interconnection project—linking the islands of Syros, Mykonos, Paros and Naxos to the Hellenic Electricity Transmission System (HETS) and reinforcing the Andros–Tinos interconnection—as a project of “greater general importance for the country’s economy”. This national designation covered all phases of the scheme, including the Phase B works that later delivered the 150 kV submarine cable connection between Naxos and Mykonos.
