150 kV three-core XLPE HVAC submarine cable between Livadi (South Evia) and Andros, approximately 14.5 km route length, installed under Cyclades Interconnection Phase B to replace existing oil-filled cables.
Prysmian Group was awarded a turnkey contract by IPTO in September 2018, worth about €21 million, to design, supply and install two 150 kV HVAC three-core XLPE cable systems interconnecting Evia, Andros and Tinos. The scope covered the replacement of the existing oil‑filled submarine cable between Livadi (South Evia) and Andros, approximately 14.5 km in length, and the parallel Andros–Tinos link, with new XLPE‑insulated cables rated around 200 MVA. Prysmian’s work included detailed design, manufacture of the submarine cables at its Arco Felice plant and of the land cables at Pignataro, marine installation and burial using the cable‑lay vessel Giulio Verne, as well as land civil works, terminations and testing. Production took place in 2018–2019 with delivery and commissioning targeted for Q3 2019, reinforcing the Cyclades grid under Phase B of the interconnection programme.
