Under the second phase of the Cyclades interconnection, the installation of submarine power cables on the Evia–Andros and Andros–Tinos links was set to begin shortly after the article was published, marking the start of physical cable-laying works for these segments. IPTO’s contractor Prysmian was to commence work from Andros, installing two turnkey 150 kV HVAC three-core submarine cable systems totalling over 16.5 km offshore (plus associated land cables), with marine laying activities to be performed by the cable‑laying vessel Giulio Verne, upgrading the existing connections to increase transmission capacity.
