The consortium ALSTOM Grid S.p.A – ALSTOM Grid Hellas A.E. was awarded an EPC/turnkey contract by IPTO for four 150/170 kV GIS substations at Lavrio, Syros, Paros and Mykonos as part of Phase A of the Cyclades interconnection that includes the Syros–Paros 150 kV radial link. The scope covered design and engineering, manufacturing and supply of GIS switchgear, transformers, reactors, capacitors and substation automation systems, as well as full installation and commissioning. By replacing small local power plants on the islands and creating a new GIS node at Lavrio, the substations enable the islands to be supplied from the mainland grid via Syros, including transmission of power over the Syros–Paros submarine cable. The contract was valued at about EUR 35 million. [Note: quantity of 2 refers to the substations on this specific link (Syros and Paros), not the full Phase A programme of 4 substations.]
