Description
The consortium ABB A.B. – ABB A.E. was contracted by IPTO under Group D of the Cycladic Islands Interconnection project, which includes the Syros–Paros 150 kV radial of Phase A, to construct and maintain a -100/+250 MVar static var compensator (SVC) on Syros. The contract covered delivery of the SVC equipment, its installation and integration into the new 150 kV GIS substation on Syros, and a five‑year maintenance period. The SVC provides dynamic reactive power support and voltage regulation, enhancing stability and power quality for the Syros hub and the radially connected islands, including Paros, once supplied via the Syros–Paros AC submarine cable.
