First 150 kV HVAC submarine interconnector between Lavrio GIS (Attica mainland) and Syros, ~108 km subsea plus ~1.65 km landfall cable, part of the Cyclades Interconnection.
Prysmian Group was awarded by Greek transmission system operator IPTO the submarine power interconnection project between Lavrio on the Attica mainland and Syros, within the Cyclades Islands interconnection programme. This first 150 kV HVAC Lavrio–Syros link provides a high-capacity mainland supply to Syros and the wider Cyclades, enabling the shutdown of local oil-fired generators and facilitating integration of renewable generation on the islands. As part of this contract, Prysmian manufactured and installed the approximately 110 km XLPE-insulated submarine cable system forming the Lavrio–Syros interconnector, delivering a complete subsea cable solution for IPTO.
