Siemens Gas and Power (Siemens Energy) led a consortium awarded an EPC turnkey contract by Ariadne Interconnection S. P. S. A. for the Crete–Attica HVDC link. The contract covers the design, supply, construction, and commissioning of two ±500 kV, 500 MW per pole VSC converter stations located at Koumoundouros in Attica and Damasta in Crete, together providing 1,000 MW transfer capacity. Siemens Energy is responsible for the HVDC converter systems, associated equipment including valves and transformers, and a 150 kV GIS substation on Crete, as well as control and protection systems. The scope also includes 10‑year service contracts for the GIS and for the control and protection systems of both converter stations, providing long‑term O&M support. The total order volume for the consortium was reported as €370 million, with contracts signed in June 2020 and commissioning then scheduled for mid‑2023.
