"the design, supply, installation – including civil works - and commissioning of a turn-key HVDC cable system ... along a route of 335 km between Crete island and Attica region" supplying one of the two submarine cables for the Crete–Attica interconnection.
Prysmian Group was awarded a €270 million contract by Ariadne Interconnection S.P.S.A, the IPTO-owned project company, for the Crete–Attica HVDC interconnector. The main €250 million lot covers the turnkey design, manufacture, supply, installation, civil works and commissioning of one of the two 500 kV mass‑impregnated HVDC submarine power cable systems forming the 1,000 MW bipole, along a 335 km route between Attica and Crete, including associated electrode stations on both sides. A second €20 million lot covers the design, supply, installation and commissioning of two submarine telecommunication links totaling 670 km. Prysmian will use its own cable‑laying vessels to install the subsea systems, with delivery and commissioning scheduled for 2020–2023.
