In early February 2019, the Directorate of Environmental Permitting (ΔΙΠΑ) of the Hellenic Ministry of Environment and Energy circulated the Environmental Impact Assessment (Μελέτη Περιβαλλοντικών Επιπτώσεων, ΜΠΕ) for the HVDC Crete–Attica interconnection, the Greek section 3.10.3 of the PCI “Euroasia Interconnector,” to regional authorities including Crete and Attica for consultation. The EIA, prepared for the project promoter Ariadne Interconnection (Ηλεκτρική Διασύνδεση Κρήτης Αττικής – ΑΡΙΑΔΝΗ Α.Ε.Ε.Σ.), covers the underground, submarine and overhead cable system linking the transmission system of Crete with the mainland Greek transmission system in Attica.
