On 17 July 2024, Greece’s Ministry of Economy and Finance decided to include the second stage of the Crete–Attica interconnection in the NSRF 2021–2027 Operational Programme "Environment and Climate Change", approving funding of up to €222.3 million as part of total EU co‑financing for the project that can reach €535.5 million.
