Prysmian contract with RTE to develop submarine cable links for Fécamp, Calvados and Saint-Nazaire; Calvados described as two HVAC 220 kV three-core submarine cables (2×16 km offshore) with land sections manufactured in Gron, France.
Prysmian was awarded a contract by Réseau de Transport d'Électricité (RTE) to develop the export power cable links connecting the Calvados (Courseulles-sur-Mer) offshore wind farm to the French mainland grid. Prysmian’s scope covered the export cable system across both the submarine and land routes, including design, supply/manufacture, installation, testing and commissioning. The export link comprised two high-voltage HVAC three-core submarine cables (reported as 2×16 km offshore for Calvados) and associated land cable sections manufactured in France (Gron plant), with submarine cable production at Prysmian facilities in Italy and Finland. The reported contract value (>€300 million) was for a framework covering Calvados alongside Fécamp and Saint-Nazaire, with project execution triggered individually under the agreement.
