Turn-key HVAC 150 kV power cable link between Sorrento and Capri’s Gasto Ecological Island, following a 16 km submarine and 3 km land route, forming the Capri–Sorrento interconnection.
Prysmian Group was awarded a turnkey contract worth about €40 million by Terna Rete Italia S.p.A. to deliver the Capri–Sorrento high‑voltage submarine power link in Italy. The project covers the supply and installation of a 150 kV HVAC cable system between the power stations at Sorrento on the mainland and Capri’s Gasto Ecological Island. Prysmian is manufacturing both the approximately 16 km submarine section and the 3 km land section of the cable at its Arco Felice plant near Naples. Installation of the offshore cable is being carried out by Prysmian’s cable‑laying vessel Cable Enterprise, with the company also responsible for related network components and specialist civil engineering works needed to complete the interconnection. The link is intended to reinforce Capri’s connection ring and improve the reliability and efficiency of the island’s electricity supply, with completion scheduled for 2019.
