Terna included the Capri–Sorrento power link, partly in underground cable and partly in submarine cable, in its development plan for reorganising the Sorrentine Peninsula grid. The planned interconnection was intended to provide Capri with a second supply route alongside the Capri–Torre Annunziata link and to improve electrical security for mainland municipalities in the area.
