In 2003, C-Power began a comprehensive Environmental Impact Study for the Thornton Bank offshore wind farm, with independent marine scientists assessing effects on seabirds, marine mammals, fish, benthic organisms, safety risks, and visual impact; this study underpinned the authority’s Environmental Impact Assessment, which concluded the project’s impacts on the marine environment would be minor.
