ABB AB was contracted to supply the offshore export cable for the Burbo Bank Extension transmission assets, under one of the main capital expenditure contracts later scrutinised in Ofgem’s forensic cost assessment. The ABB contract covered the supply of the single high‑voltage offshore cable forming part of the Burbo Bank Extension OFTO export system, which links the offshore substation in Liverpool Bay to the onshore grid connection near National Grid’s Bodelwyddan substation.
