On 4 April 2024, following consideration of the Variation Application and consultation responses, the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero decided to vary the existing Section 36 consent for the Burbo Bank offshore wind farm under section 36C of the Electricity Act 1989, approving improvement works to install aerodynamic tip extenders on each turbine to boost efficiency and increase power generation.
