In the first quarter of 2014, NVE granted Statnett a licence for new subsea cables across the inner Oslofjord, authorising the construction and operation of seven 420 kV subsea cables and two new landing facilities for each of the Solberg–Brenntangen and Filtvet–Brenntangen interconnectors between Hurum and Vestby, to replace older links and strengthen security of electricity supply in Eastern Norway and trading capacity with Sweden.
