In summer 2014, Jan De Nul Group completed installation of a 1,852‑metre 33 kV inter-array cable connecting Alstom’s Haliade 150-6 MW demonstration turbine on the Belwind concession to the Belwind Phase 1 offshore high-voltage substation (OHVS). Using the fall-pipe vessel Simon Stevin equipped with cable-laying gear and an ROV jet trencher, Jan De Nul carried out the full scope including laying the cable, CPU installation, post-trenching, burial, and rock scour and erosion protection, after which the turbine could be connected to the existing Belwind grid infrastructure.
