On 17 and 19 January 2023, TC Beatrice OFTO Limited experienced a failure on the Beatrice offshore transmission system significant enough for the OFTO to submit an Exceptional Event claim under Amended Standard Condition E12-J4 of its offshore transmission licence; Ofgem later ruled that this failure did not qualify as an exceptional event, implying the associated outage or reduced availability would not receive special regulatory treatment.
