VINCI, through VINCI Energies and VINCI Construction, is part of the consortium with Hitachi Energy awarded the EPC contract for the Bay of Biscay interconnection’s two onshore HVDC converter stations at Gatika (Spain) and Cubnezais (France). VINCI is responsible for the design and construction of the stations’ civil engineering and electrical works, including buildings, foundations and balance‑of‑plant installations required to house and integrate the HVDC equipment. The stations will convert AC to DC and vice versa for a total transfer capacity of 2 GW over a 400 km link, including 300 km of submarine cable. VINCI’s share of the contract is valued at around €300 million, with delivery of the converter stations targeted for 2028 as part of the wider Bay of Biscay interconnector construction phase.
