Siemens Energy, as part of a consortium with Dragados Offshore, signed a multi-year framework agreement with TenneT to supply HVDC transmission technology for the 2 GW offshore grid connections BalWin3, LanWin2 and LanWin4 in the German North Sea. Siemens Energy’s scope included manufacturing key electrical components such as switchgears, transformers and converter technologies for the HVDC systems, to be used in the offshore converter platform and the onshore converter station associated with BalWin3. The contract value for the consortium was stated as close to €7 billion (covering all three projects).
