In January 2026, installation of a protective rock layer (Subsea Rock Installation, SRI) began in the Baltic Sea for the Bałtyk 2 and 3 offshore wind farms, with material placed on designated seabed areas to protect monopile foundations from currents and waves and to prepare the routes for subsea export cables. The campaign, executed by specialised Van Oord vessels, will place over one million tonnes of rock (around 400,000 m³) on the seabed as part of offshore site preparation for the transmission infrastructure.
