On 14 May 2010, Greece’s Public Power Corporation (PPC) signed a €64 million turnkey contract with Nexans Norway AS to design, manufacture and install the 150 kV high‑voltage AC submarine and underground cable system between the Nea Makri substation in Attica and the Polypotamos substation on Evia, enabling transmission of around 400 MW of wind power from South Evia to Attica and reinforcing the electrification of eastern Attica.
