Prysmian supplied the submarine power cable for the new electricity supply link to Anholt Island, a small triangular island of around 140 residents in the Danish Kattegat. The Danish transmission system operator Energinet.dk procured the connection to shift the island from diesel-based generation to predominantly renewable power drawn from the adjacent Anholt Offshore Wind Farm. Prysmian manufactured a three-core 3x150 mm2 cable rated at 37 kV, which runs from the substation on the Anholt Offshore Wind Farm to Anholt Island. JD-Contractor A/S installed the cable for Energinet.dk in the summer of 2014, on a notably short schedule from contract signature to commencement. With the connection in place, Anholt was reported to be almost 100% supplied by renewable energy and linked to the Jutland electricity grid, allowing power to be imported from the mainland on the island's roughly four windless days per year. The cable supply contract value and exact award date were not disclosed in the available source.
