Bladt Industries A/S fabricated the offshore transformer platform (offshore substation) for the Anholt Offshore Wind Farm grid connection, on behalf of the Danish TSO Energinet.dk, the developer and owner of the grid connection. Built at Bladt's yard in Aalborg over roughly 15 months from February 2011, the approximately 1,800-tonne topside stands 15.5 m high with a deck area of about 880 m². At the time it was described as the largest offshore substation of its kind. The substation steps the wind farm's 33 kV array voltage up to 220 kV for transmission to shore via the roughly 25 km AC export cable. The completed platform left Aalborg on 5 April 2012 and arrived at its position off Anholt the following day. Energinet.dk owns the platform as part of the transmission connection that brings the 400 MW wind farm's power into the Danish grid.
