In October 2008, the Danish Ministry of Climate and Energy mandated the grid integration for the Anholt Offshore Wind Farm, awarding Energinet.dk responsibility to develop and construct the electrical connection, including the offshore transformer platform and high-voltage export cable from the wind farm to shore and onward to the Trige substation—assets collectively forming the Anholt Export Cable system.
