RWE plans to begin marketing 60 MW of secondary reserve capacity from the Amrumbank West offshore wind farm in daily balancing energy auctions starting in the first quarter of 2025, after transmission system operator TenneT granted the necessary pre-qualification for automatic frequency restoration reserve. This will allow the 302 MW, 80-turbine project off the German North Sea coast to reduce its output by up to 60 MW on request, providing system-stabilising services to help maintain the grid frequency at 50 Hz in addition to supplying green electricity.
