In April 2013, E.ON began offshore site preparation for the Amrumbank West wind farm northwest of Helgoland by installing scour protection, consisting of two layers of geotextile sandbag containers placed on the seabed around the planned monopile foundations to prevent erosion and ensure turbine stability.
