Wood Thilsted is a specialised offshore wind engineering consultancy focused on designing foundations and infrastructure for utility‑scale offshore wind farms. Founded in 2015 by engineers Alastair Muir Wood and Christian LeBlanc Thilsted, the company is registered in England as a private limited company and has grown to more than 180 employees. It combines structural, geotechnical, geophysical, survey management and climate analytics expertise to support projects from early site screening and feasibility through concept, FEED and detailed design, installation and lifetime extension. Its engineering services span monopile, jacket and floating foundations, secondary structures, geotechnical interpretation, metocean and load assessments, transport and installation engineering and project delivery. The firm has delivered over 13 GW of detailed design projects globally and has been responsible for turbine foundations on landmark projects such as Dogger Bank A–C, East Anglia Hub, Vineyard Wind 1, New England Wind, Thor, Kriegers Flak, Changfang & Xidao, BC Wind and Akita.
Alongside engineering, Wood Thilsted’s Advisory business supports developers with market intelligence, site screening, bid strategy, cost modelling, risk and scenario analysis, procurement strategy and portfolio management, including “foundation as a service”. The company operates from offices in the UK, Denmark, Poland, the United States, Taiwan, Japan and South Korea, and is expanding its presence in Europe, North America and Asia–Pacific, including dedicated entities in the US and Japan. In 2022 it received a minority growth investment from private equity firm Inflexion and in 2025 signed an MoU with PEAK Wind to accelerate Power‑to‑X engineering. As a Certified B Corp, Wood Thilsted frames its role in the energy transition around reducing embodied carbon through steel‑efficient designs, advancing nature‑inclusive design via a joint industry project, and working towards science‑based net‑zero targets for its own operations.
