Windport AS is a port infrastructure and services provider located in Mandal on Norway’s south coast. As the southernmost port in Norway, it is situated close to major offshore oil and gas fields and emerging offshore wind developments in the North Sea and Skagerrak, including Norway’s first major offshore wind project, Sørlige Nordsjø II. The port offers sheltered conditions with short sailing routes to open sea, deepwater access, and minimal tidal variation, and draws on a highly competent local workforce and supply industry rooted in the maritime and oil and gas sectors.
Windport provides state-of-the-art port facilities for the maritime, oil and gas, and offshore wind industries, including a deepwater quay, shore power and 24/7 operations. It has developed a dedicated jack-up service hub with infrastructure and services for service, upgrades, classification and maintenance of jack-up rigs, including inspection, service and overhaul of drilling equipment, cranes and deck equipment. The site offers a zero-emission port setup with shore power (1 x 2,200 kVA and 1 x 1,100 kVA at 380–690V, 50–60Hz), optimized quay-side logistics, waste management services and a subsea pad designed to support AJ46 and CJ50–CJ70 jack-up designs. In-house multidiscipline industrial resources span plate work, welding, outfitting, mechanical, electrical, electronics, engineering and rope access, supplemented by nearby specialist subcontractors.
Windport is a subsidiary of Global Ocean Technology and is being developed as a “one-stop shop” for offshore wind port services serving Sørlige Nordsjø II, the wider North Sea and international markets. Through a collaboration and capacity-building memorandum of understanding with Mainstream Renewable Power, bp and Statkraft, the port is working to strengthen its subcontractor base, optimize costs and develop efficient, innovative and increasingly sustainable port logistics and infrastructure for the global offshore wind industry.
