Dominion Energy

Dominion Energy, Inc. (NYSE: D) is a regulated electricity and natural gas utility headquartered in Richmond, Virginia. It provides regulated electricity service to 3.6 million homes and businesses in Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina, and regulated natural gas service to 500,000 customers in South Carolina. The company is one of the nation's leading developers and operators of regulated offshore wind and solar power and the largest producer of carbon-free electricity in New England. On 18 May 2026 Dominion Energy and NextEra Energy announced a definitive all-stock agreement under which NextEra will acquire Dominion (exchange ratio 0.8138 NEE shares per Dominion share, plus a one-time $360 million cash payment at close, and a $2.25 billion bill credit programme for Dominion customers in Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina spread over two years post-close). The combined company will operate under the NextEra Energy name. Dominion's utility companies will continue to operate as Dominion Energy Virginia, Dominion Energy North Carolina and Dominion Energy South Carolina, with dual headquarters in Richmond and Juno Beach retained. Close is expected in 12-18 months, subject to HSR Act, FERC, NRC and state PSC approvals plus shareholder votes.
