Cable Lay Vessel
Owner: S.B. Submarine Systems Co. Ltd.
Also known as: Maersk Repeater, Yan Hai, Fu Hai

CS Fu Hai was built in 2000 by Volkswerft Stralsund in Stralsund, Germany, for service as a cable layer and has since sailed under the flag of Panama. Over her life she has carried earlier names including Maersk Repeater, Yan Hai and Fu Hai before taking her current name, and is now owned and operated by S.B. Submarine Systems Co. Ltd. of Shanghai. She is classed by DNV with notation DNV1A1 DK(+) DYNPOS (AUTR) E0 NAV-O TMON, reflecting a DP-2 dynamic positioning capability suited to precise offshore work. Technically, CS Fu Hai is a high bollard pull offshore vessel equipped for submarine cable installation and maintenance, featuring a 60-tonne A-frame system, a 60-tonne tow winch and a cable lifting capacity of 5,700 tonnes. She carries an HP-1500 plough and the Sealion III trenching ROV, allowing cable burial and subsea intervention in a range of seabed conditions. SBSS describes her as having a track record in telecommunications, power utility and oil and gas projects, and AIS records show recent operations around ports such as Taichung (Taiwan), Zhoushan (China) and Moji (Japan), indicating an active role in regional subsea cable installation and maintenance campaigns.
Propulsion is provided by 2 x MAN 8-cylinder L32/40 main engines, each rated 3,840 kW at 750 rpm, driving 2 x 4-blade 3.0 m diameter MAN Alpha controllable pitch propellers via RENK HSNL-800 main gearboxes. Auxiliary power is supplied by Caterpillar 3508 DI-TA/1 generator sets rated 760 kW at 1,800 rpm and one Caterpillar 3306 DI-T emergency/harbour generator rated 170 kW at 1,800 rpm.
