Cable Lay Vessel
Owner: Green Holdings · Operator: Hainan Runneng Offshore Engineering Service
Also known as: RUN NENG 168

Runneng 168 is a large cable-laying vessel operated for Chinese renewable energy company Green Holdings. A 2022 report notes that Green Holdings took delivery of the vessel following a major conversion carried out by Yantai CIMC Raffles Offshore Engineering with design support from Nanjing Puning Ship Design. Technically, the ship is notable as the first 15,000 GT cable-layer completed in China to be fitted with DP2 azimuthing controls and with capacity to load up to 10,000 tonnes of 220 kV submarine cable. Deck equipment includes an 8,000-tonne turntable, an array of 50-tonne positioning winches, and cranes of 30, 50, and 60 tonnes SWL including a hydraulic gantry crane, with accommodation for about 60 personnel. The vessel was designed with unlimited navigation capability and a service speed of just over 10 knots, and with extended endurance of about 1,500 hours to support longer offshore campaigns. Runneng 168 is targeted at submarine power cable installation in Chinese waters, particularly supporting offshore renewable energy developments and associated grid infrastructure. Its high cable load capacity and DP2 station-keeping make it suitable for large-scale export and inter-array cable projects where long continuous cable lengths and precise positioning are critical.
