Isaac Newton was built by Uljanik shipyard and delivered in 2015; the hull was constructed for the Luxembourg company Sofidra S.A. and the vessel entered service with Jan De Nul Group. The ship is listed under IMO 9707297 and operates flagged in Luxembourg. The vessel is fitted with DP2 dynamic positioning, a large cable turntable system with a combined capacity of about 10,700 tonnes, twin deck cranes and a sizable open deck. Reports list main propulsion power in the order of 12,000–12,300 kW, accommodation for roughly 75 personnel and a bollard pull and winching capability suited to cable-lay and cover operations. Jan De Nul deploys Isaac Newton primarily in European offshore projects, notably North Sea and German grid connections, where it undertakes submarine power cable installation, repair and related offshore construction support and transport of large deck cargoes.
