Cable Lay Vessel
Owner: Jan De Nul Group
Also known as: Hanjin Esperance

STX Offshore & Shipbuilding built Willem de Vlamingh in 2011 in Busan, and Jan De Nul took the vessel into its subsea installation fleet upon delivery. The vessel has remained under Jan De Nul operation since delivery and has filled a role alongside the group's larger cable-lay units. Willem de Vlamingh carries a cable turntable with a 5,400 t payload capacity, DYNAPOS AM/AT station-keeping (R Class 2), an SMST 40 t active heave-compensated knuckle-boom crane, an optional A-frame and accommodation for about 60 personnel. Its propulsion and power configuration supports transit speeds around 13 knots, and a relatively shallow draught allows operations in nearshore and shallow-water environments. Jan De Nul deploys the vessel primarily on offshore cable installation, protection and repair scopes for the offshore wind sector and related subsea projects. Operational deployments have included export cable installation work in Taiwan, and the vessel is typically assigned to transport, lay and protect submarine HVAC/HV export cables and perform shallow-water cable interventions.
Dynamic positioned DP Class 2 multi-purpose vessel designed for side stone dumping, flexible fall pipe rock installation, cable laying and (rock) trenching, with propulsion power of 2 x 2,150 kW, bow thruster power of 2 x 1,500 kW, and total installed diesel power of 8,975 kW.
