The Yeu-Noirmoutier Export grid connection (twin 225 kV HVAC submarine + underground link between the offshore substation, the La Barre-de-Monts landfall, and the new Soullans onshore substation) reached full operational status on 4 June 2025 when the first electricity from the 500 MW Yeu-Noirmoutier offshore wind farm was exported through it. By that date RTE had commissioned both 225 kV export cables, the landfall jointing chamber at La Barre-de-Monts, the ~58 km of onshore underground cable to Soullans, and the new Soullans 225 kV substation. The transmission infrastructure was delivered by RTE under the French TSO-build-own model, with Prysmian Group supplying and installing the 225 kV submarine and onshore cables. Subsequent progressive commissioning of the wind farm turbines through 2025-2026 increased flows over this grid connection without any further grid-side commissioning step.
