In July 2020, SSEN Transmission (Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission) held an initial public consultation introducing the Shetland Connections (Shetland Renewable Connections) Project, which includes the proposed subsea electricity connection between Yell and Mainland Shetland. The consultation sought early feedback from communities and stakeholders on the overall project concept and associated infrastructure, including the Yell subsea connection.
