DB3 has been appointed to provide architectural and principal designer services for the onshore HVDC converter station complex in Devon for the Xlinks Morocco-UK Power Project. Its scope covers the overall architectural design of the 3.6 GW converter station site that will receive power from the subsea HVDC cables, convert it from HVDC to HVAC, and interface with the British transmission network. DB3 is responsible for integrating the converter station buildings and associated infrastructure into the local landscape, prioritising sustainability, minimising visual and ecological impact, and coordinating design aspects in line with UK regulatory requirements for principal designers.
