On 23 June 2025, Fugro announced that it had been awarded contracts to carry out integrated site characterisation for RWE and TotalEnergies’ Windbostel Ost offshore wind project in the German North Sea, as part of a joint award also covering Windbostel West. Under these contracts Fugro will conduct both geophysical and geotechnical site investigations northwest of the island of Borkum, generating detailed Geo-data on seabed and subsurface conditions. The geophysical surveys will map the seabed and shallow subsurface layers and identify potential hazards, while the geotechnical investigations will collect and test soil samples in situ. The resulting combined dataset will support early design decisions for Windbostel Ost, including foundation design, structural analysis, cable routing and risk assessment for later construction and operational phases.
