Prysmian Group designed, manufactured, supplied and installed the Wikinger offshore wind farm inter-array cable system in the German Baltic Sea. The turnkey scope included design, manufacture, installation, burial, termination and testing of 81 km of 33 kV submarine array cables connecting 70 wind turbines to the offshore substation. The cables were produced at Prysmian’s Drammen, Norway facility and the offshore installation and commissioning were executed under Prysmian project management. Prysmian stated it secured the contract from Iberdrola in February 2015 and later successfully commissioned the system.
