On 22 December 2014, Iberdrola awarded Navantia a contract worth €160 million under which Navantia’s Fene shipyard will build 29 jacket foundations for Wikinger’s 5 MW wind turbines, including 116 piles, with offshore pile installation scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2016 and complete by the end of summer 2016. The contract is one of Iberdrola’s largest awards to a Spanish supplier in renewables and involves around 700 Navantia employees over two years.
