Balfour Beatty

Balfour Beatty, acting as SSEN Transmission’s principal contractor, secured a long-term charter of the RoRo freight vessel MV Arrow to provide dedicated logistics support for SSEN Transmission’s Lewis Hub and Western Isles HVDC Link. The chartered vessel was intended to transport construction materials and project freight and to help protect capacity on the existing Stornoway–Ullapool lifeline ferry service; a release mechanism was described to allow the vessel to be used by others when not required for the project.
